Le Monde Beryl's silk slippers

There is something so very divine and  Sheltering Sky about these gorgeous silk slippers – of course, it has a lot to do with the idea of being transported to a romantic locale such as Venice or Marrakech, it's also the languid coolness and ease. The story behind the brand is good reading – Le Monde Beryl was founded by friends Lily Atherton Hanbury and Katya Shyfrin, who met in London and bonded over a love of gemmology, art, design and travel, and why not? The label's name references a family of gemstones that includes emerald, aquamarine,  morganite and heliodor, all considered talismanic to travellers and artists. It also pays homage to the pioneering aviatrix Beryl Markham, first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic from east to west. Inspired by the spirit of adventure and the rich cultural patchwork of the Silk Route, Le Monde Beryl is a new take on the classic Venetian gondolier’s slipper, and I think we all need a pair in at least one colour.
