"Arriving at The Parker Hotel with my husband was a dizzying moment – we were beside ourselves when shown the grounds, the lemonade stand, the bocce pitch, the pools, the fire pits and the yacht club, set amongst the most lavish gardens. In such a heavenly place, our afternoons were lazy, spent by the pool sipping Campari and soda, playing ping pong, or bocce, followed by a massage (and how could you not, when welcomed to the spa with a complimentary shot of cucumber vodka?).
An architectural tour of Palm Springs is also a must in order to discover firsthand the strong modernist movement that blossomed here in the desert, post World War II – just imagine the parties that would have taken place at Elvis or Frank Sinatra's pad. In the evenings my husband and I ate s'mores, delicious marshmallows sandwiched between chocolate biscuits, the perfect indulgence when sitting around a bonfire in the desert."
