the sydney-based stylist, Fiona kowalski has dreamt up a charming children's line inspired by her family's breezy lifestyle at Bondi beach
- "The collection is effortless and carefree – it's anything but precious," says the stylist and designer Fiona Kowalski of her new children's line, Printebebe. Based in Sydney's Bondi Beach, and mother to two-year-old Gidget, Kowalski's seaside obsession is obvious. She says, "In my job as a [magazine] stylist, I often travelled to Paris and, of course, loved the French aesthetic and seeing the children dressed so finely, but after having my own child I discovered that a lot of the clothes were so fiddly and fussy, and weren't quite right for a day at the beach."
- Kowalski began sketching out her ideas a year ago, designing sweet smock dresses, blouses, bloomers, pretty bonnets and drawstring pants that mixed together and could be layered according to the weather. She then sourced painterly florals, ikats and paisleys from around the globe. "It's funny how your priorities shift once you've had children," the designer says. "When thinking about this line I really wanted it to be chic yet functional and easy – just as importantly, I wanted to create pretty pieces that allow children to be children."
