  6. What do you love most about living by the sea?

  7. We are lucky to be a stone’s throw to Sydney’s most beautiful beaches. We love to sneak in and out of Bondi and take a dip at Icebergs pool, or to spend the afternoon at Camp Cove and Bronte. Living by the beach gives us so much joy – there is nothing quite like the healing energy of the sea, it makes you want to live in Sydney forever.
  1. What do you use to protect both your skin and baby Banjo’s?

  2. I use Aveeno Natural Protection Sunscreen SPF 50‎ on Banjo and also on my own face and shoulders. My girlfriend sends it to me from New York. Right now, it’s all about early morning and late afternoon beach visits, we skip the hottest times of day, and when we do go in the sun it’s never for too long – we are always on the hunt for shade and Banjo wears a hat or headscarf.

WHAT is your secret to fresh-faced beauty?

My skincare is pretty minimal; I truly believe that everything you put in your body counts when it comes to good skin, and so I always start the day with warm water and lemon. I eat very healthily, incorporating lots of good fats, greens and minimal alcohol. Banjo and I both use Dr. Bronner lavender soap and Weleda toothpaste – it really simplifies life to share. I also moisturise with extra virgin coconut oil before bed or I’ll use Kiehl’s Creme de Corps if I am shooting. I make my own lavender essential oil spray to refresh throughout the day, using filtered water and essential oil from Provence. I love Kiehl’s Gentle Foaming Cleanser and Ultra Facial Moisturizer for daytime and RMS Beauty Raw Coconut Cream is a wonderful multi-tasking product for after the beach, used either as a makeup remover or on skin and hair. Before bed I apply Sukin Organic Rose Hip Oil on my face.

  1. How do you protect your hair from sun and sea?

I like how my hair feels after a day at the beach to be honest (it’s better than a harsh blow-dry). I just always rinse after swimming and try not to brush too often. Occasionally, I will whip up my own avocado and egg white hair mask, leaving it on for 15 minutes before washing. I also like to sleep with Kiehl’s Magic Elixir on wet hair once a week.

and in your makeup bag?

I hardly ever wear makeup, unless I am working. It’s just too much fuss and it doesn't go with my lifestyle. I use a Stila CC Color Correcting Cream or Nars Tinted Moisturizer and I am obsessed with a cherry lip stain that I buy from the health food store. Sometimes, too, I’ll dab Lucas PawPaw Ointment on my cheekbones or brows and I always take along Chanel Le Vernis nail lacquer in Secret No. 625 for manicures.

How do you keep fit and stay in shape?

I run after Banjo 24/7, I also try to go to Pilates when I can and walk a lot. Soon I will start training again to lose the last of the baby weight. I’m planning to train three days a week and take Pilates twice a week – if I can find the time. I am so blessed that this body of mine made a beautiful healthy child and so everyday I love my imperfections more and more.

  1. Can you share your early-morning juice recipe?

I have been juicing since I was a teeny. I used to pick greens from my mum’s garden and make the freshest recipes, and recently I was given a Norwalk juicer, which I am so excited about. My favourite combination includes kale, beet greens, parsley, apple, lemon with a 50/50 ratio of coconut water to green juice. Banjo loves this, too. Another really good tip for breastfeeding mums is to try pure coconut water and its flesh whizzed together in the blender – it contains the most lauric acid of any other food on earth. I also love The Beauty Chef by Carla Oates, in particular her Inner Beauty Powder, which I add to a turmeric pawpaw smoothie.
