CLEMENTINE McVEIGH has her morning routines down pat. The model, mother and wife of Sydney Swans co-captain, Jarrad McVeigh, is the new face of Jasmine & Will's sleepwear campaign launching this month and here, she shares her thoughts on motherhood, style and life on the go

CAN YOU DESCRIBE YOUR VIEWPOINT ON MOTHERHOOD – what matters most?

  1. Motherhood is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. It's the most rewarding yet hardest job in the world. I’m sure all mothers would say the same. The most important thing to me is happiness; having a happy home and so much love. Family time is everything, so we spend as much time together as we can. Lolita pretty much goes everywhere I go. She is a very good girl and well travelled; we took her everywhere with us from the moment she was born. I think it is very important to be open to everything and expose your children to life from the moment they are born.
  1. TELL US ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL STYLE – HAS IT EVOLVED SINCE BECOMING A PARENT? I love fashion! I love everything about it. Through modeling I have been exposed to many different, amazing designers and stylists. I guess over time you develop your own sense of style and an understanding of what works for you and your body. It’s never just about one piece for me, I love putting an entire outfit together and accessorising, and yes I will admit I am a shoe, bag and sunglasses addict.

I love the 70/30 rule: if I'm wearing something pretty or floral I'll add a bit of rock- or boho-chic or vice versa. I am a Virgo so everything is always planned and has to be perfect. Certain bags, shoes and sunglasses only go with certain outfits and looks. My mum tells me I have been this way from the moment I started dressing myself. As a child I used to change my outfit five times a day, and never leave home for school without a ribbon in my hair. I blame my mama, as everything I wore as a child she made – the most incredible dresses and outfits.

Often I'm runny around with Lolly or to and from shoots, so it is about convenience too. Let's face it, we all have skinny and fat days, hump days and just feeling really shitty days so I love throwing on my activewear and Nikes, or a comfortable pair of PJs like the Jasmine & Will's. It's not always about what you are wearing but how you wear it. A good outfit can change your mood in a second. That's why I love fashion so much, my style represents me.

  3. CAN YOU SHARE YOUR ROUTINES – HOW DO YOU GET READY IN THE MORNING? At about ‪4:30am we hear Lolita's footprints coming down the hall, and that sound is heaven to me, even though it's kills my sleep. She then falls back to sleep and wakes me up around ‪6:30am saying 'coffee time'; she has learnt that coffee is the first thing I have to have in the morning, probably like most mothers. My husband is usually out the door for training by ‪7am so Lolly and I  sit together and she has her honey on toast. I will usually jump in the shower while she watches her favourite shows and then once I'm out, it’s her turn. From the moment she was born she was either on the floor lying on a blanket in the bathroom or a bouncer while I was in the shower, it's the only way to get yourself ready. I have never forgotten my mama saying to me, 'there are 24 hours in a day so don't complain about not having time to get yourself ready with a baby'; it’s so true.

  1. WHAT ARE YOUR STRATEGIES FOR STRIKING A WORK-LIFE BALANCE? I'm lucky with my work that I can pick and choose the jobs I love doing. I think it's so important to love what you do as you take your energy home with you at the end of the day. I have been travelling the world with modeling since I was 16, and have always loved it. So now that I'm a mother, I know what kind of work will stress me out or make me happy. My agency is incredible; they understand that Lolita is my main priority and always work around that. I also think it is important to not take on too much, knowing it will stress me out with trying to juggle work-life and mum-life. I love my job, I love still having my identity and yet can still be a mum. I think it is important for all mothers to be able to have their own thing going on in addition to being a mother/wife, and to have that little time out which we all need.

  3. HOW DO YOU STRIVE TO BE IN THE MOMENT WITH LOLLY AND WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING TO DO TOGETHER? Lolita is such a girly girl. She loves makeup, clothes, shoes and nails. I guess she gets a lot of that from watching me. Often she comes up to me and says 'mama, I don't like that it doesn't match'. It makes me laugh and she is very cheeky. We spend so much time together, her favourite thing is to go and get her nails done and put makeup on me. I guess she is like most little girls ... She loves to play dress ups, she loves my heels bags and sunglasses, which gives me heart palpitations whenever she wears them.

  1. WHAT IS YOUR ULTIMATE INDULGENCE – HOW DO YOU PAMPER YOURSELF? Wine, chocolate, online shopping – that's my pampering. I am addicted to online shopping; easy and right to the door! I can't remember the last time I had a relaxing massage or facial as I would rather have a wine on the couch. I'm a massive homebody and feel very content with relaxing at home rather than going out all the time.

AND LASTLY, WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SUNDAY ROUTINE? Wake up, a coffee first, then usually four to six laps of the soft sand on Bondi Beach. This is followed by breakfast at Brown Sugar in Bondi. The favourite thing my husband and I love doing on a Sunday is having cheese and crackers and vino and just relaxing at home as a family, or picnicking on the grass at south end of Bondi Beach if the weather is not too hot. That's my perfect Sunday.
